speaker problem

hi I need your help so i have these two tannoy speakers and there a couple of years old now and whenever I play something on them they make like a qite loud static noise like not that I can't hear what I'm playing but I can definitely hear the hum in the background, also the sound is like way lower but steel hearable when nothing is playing

not sure what ones you have but...after a while the power button and volume buttons on powered speakers get dirty....that can cause static sounds.....a little bit of work to clean thou..you have to take the speaker apart to get to the switches and use a electrical cleaner

other thing can be is a bad cable or connector

no thats like way to complicated how do i even know for sure before i do it

as for the power button or volume button....power button with crackle as you turn it on or off...the volume will crackle as you turn it up or down.

to test jacks just lightly move where the jacks are plugged into, if they produce the static the jack is bad

the plug and wires. where the wire goes into the plug can go bad move it around to see if you can produce static...the wires one could have been pinched along it.. best to just try another cable to see
