I just built my first computer and am looking into overclocking, but have no idea how. My system is:

i7-8700k cpu

Noctua NH-D9L cpu cooler

ASrock Z390 Phantom Gaming SLI/ac motherboard

G.Skill Value DDR4-2666 memory (16gb)

TEAM T-force Delta 1TB SSD storage

MSI RTX 2080 VENTUS GPU (coming in a few days)

Rosewill 650w 80+ gold full modular psu

Anything is appreciated, thanks!

What do you want to overclock (CPU, GPU, DRAM)?

Here's a very short GPU overclocking guide:

- Download MSI Afterburner and Unigine Valley Benchmark

- Increase the core clock by a bit at a time (maybe 25MHz at a time) and same goes for memory.

- Then stress test your GPU (run Unigine Valley Benchmark) for some time.

- If the application doesn't crash, then your overclock is stable but if Unigine Valley Benchmark crashes, then your overclock isn't stable.

- If your app crashes, you have two options: either add more voltage or decrease the core/memory clock.

Thanks for the help. I definitely want to overclock my GPU and probably memory, do you think its worth overclocking the CPU for gaming?

Nope. GPU overclocking will help a lot more for gaming than CPU overclocking will.
