Wait what? All of the mounting dimensions in computers are standardized, unless something is installed out of place they should line up just fine. Are you able to send a picture?

it ended up fitting with a different screw... :) 

i feel a bit silly.

 

now i'm running into a different issue, it's not detecting my headphones. 

 

it's plugged in properly, and i've tried two different headphones.

You have the software installed? You have to manually change the soundcard to play audio via the headphone port vs the surround sound ports. Sorta both convenient and not convenient at the same time. I leave my surround sound and headphones both always plugged in and use the software so switch back and forth.
