Hello, i have recently completed my new build, and i am really satisfied with it! Well, WAS. i am truthfully kind of underwhelmed now and I dont know what to do. My original plan goal was to build a pc that can run many mid-tier games at high settings at 75 fps (bc of my monitors refresh rate). I also wanted something EXTREMELY compact, as i have a mico atx build already, and its a bit too big. For me, small IS SMALL, not "smaller than your avg pc".

Here is my build:

case - silverstone sugo sg13w min itx tower case

mobo - asrock z370m itx/ac mini itx lga1151

ram - corsair vengence lpx 16gb ddr4-3000

cpu - intel core i3-8100 3.6 ghz quad core

gpu - zotac 1050ti mini

cpu cooler - silverstone ar05 40.2 cfm cpu cooler

psu - cooler masterr masterwatt 650 w 80+ bronze

case fan (only 1 can fit) - i did 1 140mm deepcool rf140 fan

i don thtink the ssd/hdd matter, so ima skip that.

i play games like csgo, no mans sky, cities skylines, divinity, and minecraft. but my fps is capped at 30 on no mans sky (ok, needs lotta stuff, so whatver). but csgo gets like....40s and 50s at times and minecraft gets 20??? what did i do? yes, i installed all my drivers, i even tried overclocking my gpu....granted, it wasnt overclocked much at all, so maybe VERY few frames at most. i told my friend im thinking about buying a 1070ti to replace my 1050ti, but he says that may not be the problem and it could be my cpu. im not sure what to do, and would like some advice on how i can get more fps. did i overestimate the power of the 1050ti? or did i just not do soemthing right? thank you very much for the help!

Those are parts that won't assist in getting good performance. All of those games are very cpu bound, the 8100 is not a high end, high performing cpu. A 1070ti would be a giant waste of money because the processor would bottleneck the hell out of it.

Being capped, im not too sure about- have you tried disabling vsync?

are u implying that the combination of thsoe parts wont assist in good performance? cuz they dont compliment each other? or are u sayign that neither is sufficient enough for the games? my english is not good, sorry. No, i have not tried disabling vsync, i will try that. but what combination of cpu/gpu would u reccommend? is it better to have much higher cpu than gpu (like i9 paired with 1050?). would that be a problem too? if its my cpu being the problme, i wouldnt mind replacing it with, lets say, an i7? or smoething.if it means better perfomance...

I'd recommend upgrading to an i5 8400, it'd probably be the best with the 1050ti if you don't feel like also upgrading your GPU.

Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen R7 3700X @4.4Ghz, GPU: Gigabyte RX 5700 XT, RAM: 32 GB (2x 8GB Trident Z Royal + 2x 8GB TForce Vulkan Z) @3000Mhz, Motherboard: ASRock B550m Steel Legend, Storage: 1x WD Black 1Tb NVMe (boot) + 1x Samsung 860 QVO 1Tb SSD (storage), Case: Thermaltake Core V21, Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

Its that neither are sufficient.

Regarding what you said about the i9/i7 - no. The 1050ti will bottleneck those processors. You have to find something kind of middleground like what @Adorable Cat said.

Thats a good mid tier cpu.

so if i end up upgrading to a i7-8700 and a 1070ti? would that be sufficient enough to play those games? and maybe others too? i hear thats a good gpu... 6 core cpu + 1070ti? good?

and that means that either way i have to look for something that botht he cpu and gpu can be on equal lvl and not have one or the other far better than the other? correct?

Those two would work great for games, but maybe overkill depending on what display you're playing on. If its 1080p 60hz, go with an RX 580 and the 8400

And it depends on what you're doing. Gaming, yeah you'll want balance between the two. Workstation stuff, you can go without a gpu if you're using photoshop or something

i have 1080p monitor at 75hz refresh rate. usually run discord in the backrgound and do ps, and other editing and school work too and chrome. kind of an all around pc. my current one with the i3 works well with ps, but its jsut lacking heavily in gameplay (which i love gaming).
