need help choosing

I am investing into a gaming laptop, and I guess a big issue for me is future proofing, that is I want to get a gaming laptop that will last me a while and I could still play future games etc. I don't know THAT much about gaming laptops but with everything in life, future proofing generally comes down to money. While I am not limiting my choices to these two choices, they just pop at me right now:

MSI GS65 Stealth THIN-068 15.6" 144 Hz FHD GTX 1070 8 GB VRAM i7-8750H 32 GB Memory 1 TB NVMe SSD Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Gaming Laptop

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16834154803

- its 2700 dollars before taxes, its around 5 pounds which is appealing cause it means I can bring it around more, but not sure how future proof it is. I'd like this one because it's cheaper but I just wanna make sure it last me a long time and I have not been in the pc gaming scene for a while.

or

ASUS ROG G703GX Desktop Replacement Gaming Laptop, GeForce RTX 2080, 17.3” FHD 144Hz G-SYNC, Intel Core i9-8950HK CPU, 32GB DDR4, 1.5TB PCIe SSD (RAID 0), Per-Key RGB, Windows 10 Pro - G703GX-XS98Khttps://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834235133&ignorebbr=1

- this one is 4k but I would like to think for sure its future proofed for a while at least. But its also alot heavier

thanks for any help!

Instead of something that's $3,000-4,000, get a midrange laptop with a GTX 1070 or something for ~$1500 and then just get another one in two or three years. Spending that much money on a non-upgradeable laptop is pointless IMO.

I vote for the MSI GS65 Stealth but the stock versions from Newgg or amazon with their stock MSI thermal paste overheat a lot and thermal throttle. Get it from HIDevolution with their thermal upgrades like Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal pads to mitigate the heat issues. You also get a properly tested machine that works 100% out of the box rather than some newegg surprise. See: Custom Built MSI GS65

As for ASUS, the GL704 is a much better choice. See: ASUS GL704

Alienware m16 R1 | AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX | SK Hynix 64 GB 5200 MHz DDR5 RAM | GeForce RTX 4090 16 GB GDDR6 | 16" QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 240Hz, 3ms 300-nits Screen | 2x Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSDs + WD_BLACK SN770M 2TB SSD | Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 | Windows 11 Pro

I was looking at the GL704 and its CHEAPER with a RTX 2070 then the GS65, Thank you for your suggestion. The reviews are legit too. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=9SIAFXN8SJ3426 it's upgraded by hidev
