Define "normal SSD?" As far as I'm concerned, V-nand is available on normal SSDs like the Samsung Evo series, NVMe is also available on normal SSDs from that series, for example.

 

Maybe the special, not normal part of them is the price tag? They're usually pretty expensive. You can boot from them with a more modern system.

Under Normal SSD i mean loke a 960 evo

Sorry i meant 860 evo not 960 evo.

V-NAND is just how Samsung makes their NAND on their SSDs, works exactly the same way as any other SSD.

I mean, 860 and 960 are both pretty normal. 860 just uses SATA instead of NVMe. Still comes in the m.2 form factor sometimes.

So i helped a Friend build his PC he picked parts and he chose a 970 250 gb but its not showing up as storage device in Windows 10.

So i helped a Friend build his PC he picked parts and he chose a 970 250 gb but its not showing up as storage device in Windows 10.

what board is that? too little info to know the reason why it doesnt work, but being V-NAND is not the cause.
