Hi guys,

Looking at making a few upgrades to my PC. I currently have an i5 6500 - gaming at 1080p with a GTX 1070, is it worth considering upgrading this CPU now or will it still be relevant for AAA titles over the next couple of years? Upgrade path would probably be Ryzen 5 2nd gen or maybe an 8400 at a push

wait for Zen 2. your CPU is still rather good and if you want a real upgrade for you money, that is the way to go.

might have to wait a slight bit for Zen 2 r5 parts after launch

timeframe is Q2/Q3

edit: your setup for 1080p is still rather good

I'd at least wait for the AMD 3000 (Zen 3?) series before upgrading, but at 1080p you should be good for a few years.

Ryzen 3000 is Zen 2 which is this year

Ryzen 4000 is zen 3 which is next year

Ryzen 200 was Zen+
