Storage Space

Walter_Kai

So I was using storage settings>Temporary files, to see if there're anything I could get rid of, in order to save some space.

Then this Compress OS option showed up, and I have never ever seen this option, neither do I remember compressing my drive????

What is that, why is it so damn large? (22GB), is it actually safe to delete it?Untitled.thumb.jpg.13c063b57f5a75e3db8bc54f42ef6070.jpg

As the description mentions, you can compress the OS files to save disk space.

The cost of doing this is an increase in CPU usage as it needs to decompress files that were compress when loading them. This may increase startup time of Windows as well.

It is safe but I dont recommend it for anyone who is a Techie. If you switch hardware, redo an OS, use Bitlocker, recover a drive, do custom windows things, etc a lot, I would not recommend it. It is better for the Average consumer

I see, thanks for the info

I would make sure I untick that box.

It must have been a recent windows update thing, as this was never an option before
