MonoDev and VisualStudio

Hello, I am a student at the university and this next term I am required to code in C#. We are going to create a client (in C#) and a server (in C).

The thing here is that these projects are a group work and the laptop I use for working can't dual boot because of its low specs. Right now I have Linux Mint installed and I found that there's this:

I understand I can use .NET Core up to v2 with no compatibility issues (or that's what they state in their website), but since we are going to be using Windows Forms, are we going to be able to work without problems when we send our codes to each others if my collegues are using VisualStudio?

 

I am asking this here because I expect to find someone who has experience with this and can assure me one thing or another.
