portal 2 problem

ok so i was play portal 2 till about chapter 17 then i close the game the next day it crashes when i try to load the last point and not every time sometimes it works sometimes it don't  i update it and nothing  i reinstalled it and nothing it's still going with the crashing is there a fix for this

The only thing I could think of is,

1.) Find your saved files, back them up somewhere.

2.) Then uninstall portal 2

3.) Go and find the cache file in the steam folder and delete it. [ there's a certain name for it, but I do not know what it is, try googling it]

4.) Then start steam again and install, put the saves back where you found them.

 

Since I'm assuming it is on steam.

Verify game cache, if that doesn't do anything try the suggested above^ I've had to do those steps for another game for it to work properly through steam.

You seem to have somehow entered a portal into the extended universe. That is why your computer is not functioning correctly.
