I was wondering if it was worth purchasing a gaming laptop with the new RTX cards or would it be better to stick with say, 1080 card or 1070 card over the RTX equivalent. I guess one of the reasons I'd say for rtx card laptops is future proofing. I have looked at a bunch of different reviews and videos and not sure the small percentage boost is really worth it. What recommendations would you guys have? My budget is 3-4k roughly. Thanks!

what games do you play?

find benchmarks for the games you play with the config you're looking at and compare the value among them

my way of seeing it: if it costs just as much for the same performance, grab the latest tech, but if latest tech's value is bad, then look at previous tech

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I play everything to be honest, from witcher to runescape to call of duty. I have seen a bunch of the benchmarks and generally they seem to be 15-20 % faster. I have never owned a gaming laptop, and I was looking for one that would be portable. The model I was looking at is the MSI stealth but can't decide between which cards. So i guess the question becomes is that 15-20% percent increase worth it?
