your i3 is already holding your system back, a quad core like an i5 let alone that dual core is unsuitable for decent refresh rate gaming (or even 60 fps in AAA games like black ops). You're right to get an i7 first, or immediately after getting your GPU. Also, dual channel ram is super helpful.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

If you play at 1080p get a 1060 6GB for 200 or less.  Or go all out and get a 2070 and gain performance a bit and Ray Tracing.

I can just say your poor CPU is very very angry at you.  You will enter a new world if you buy something like a 8700k or 7700k or 6900k and of course overclock her a bit to 4.6Ghz all 3 at minimum.  Have good cooling like Noctua based or a liquid cooling and what not.

Do it man, and don't forget to come here after your up and running so we can overclock the hell out of that K processor.

If your motherboard doesn't overclock, the 7700 (non k) is usually less money for the same thing. They have the same all core turbo frequency.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

yup, no OC so a non-k i7 is a good budget option.

one more thing I checked the prices and strangely the 7700k is cheaper that the 7700 so my question is will it work at all just with out the overclocking capabilities or no?

Yes it will work, but that raises a new question:

Are you buying these parts new?

Because I can tell you right now that it's most likely an awful deal. eBay is your friend here, or whatever local market you can access.
