My phone just updated to Android P (Galaxy S9) and there is one new feature I already hate with a passion:

when pulling down the notifications, the background is blurred. It was not on the last version (as you can see on the screenshot I found about this down below). Is there any way to deactivate this? I see no benefit and I always have to close the notifications completely if I want to have a glance at the currently open app.

 

Example where this is pretty bad: I watch a YouTube-Video in fullscreen and want to reply to some WhatsApp-Messages. Prior to this I could just pull down the notifications and reply there while still watching the video in the background.

 

Why did they do this?
