100% disk usage

my disk usage randomly spikes to 100% and then highlights processes that are only taking up to 2mb/s. its a 1tb 7200rpm. this was taken 30 seconds into my computer launching so i am assuming it is supposed to happen because it is a hard drive which is slow but it also happens hours in. spikes to a hundred for a while and i continue to do what i was doing and goes back to normal eventually. any idea on what it is?? i have tried a few things online but they didnt help or should i not be worried at all because its not a problem?

Your HDD will be maxed out speed wise for several minutes after booting while it loads things in the background. Any time you load something, it will obviously spike to 100% because its loading it as fast as it can. If you click on a program to launch it, you wouldn't want you HDD only going at 10% of its max speed to launch that program. Everything seems normal here.
