Hi guys

I have the following components

Core i7 9700k @ stock

Asus turbo rtx 2080 @ stock

16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram

600w gold sfx power supply

asus z390i itx motherboard

I just got a "kernel power" error on windows, where it hanged on windows and then the power cut out and restarted itself for the first time.

Is this power supply related? I would think a 600w should handle an itx 2080 build?

Temps are fine.. GPU max 70 on games, CPU 40-50.

Edit: Actually, i've just looked in windows event viewer and i've had this problem 5 times. but i only noticed that it crashed and restarted once...

Using ""WhoCrashed" it turns out this is its conclusion

2 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. A third party driver has been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 417.71 , NVIDIA Corporation)

Any suggestions? DDU it?

Nvidia recommends a 650W PSU for the 2080. What brand is your 600W? If it's from a sketchy brand then it probably isn't capable of 600W and that might be the cause of your issues.

Hmm, well most corsair should be fine. I have had one fail on me though, it was a 650W. Might be worth trying another PSU if DDU doesn't work.

Bump anyone offer any other suggestions? This only happens on light loads.. e.g. web browsing, and has never happened on gaming.

Its happening more frequently now. The display just goes blank, it then restarts into windows and i get the kernel power 41 error task 63. I have done DDU and reinstalled latest drivers, to no avail.

Before spending £130 on a SF750 - do you really think its a power supply issue? Could it be connected to the pci riser cable that im using by any chance? So confused.
