Looking for a laptop

Saidear

So I’m looking to get just laptop that is capable of light gaming, like Terraria, Starbound and some old emulated games. A high powered graphics card isn’t need but a discrete one would be definitely preferred. Something like the Asus FX504 is basically my high end of budget ($999 CAD) and in terms of power. Nothing bigger than 15.6, though 13” is preferred

Any good suggestions?

if u dont mind the plastic build quality, u can look at the aspire e15 (or if u want something smaller, the aspire e 14)

they are generally cheap for their specs

i have the aspire e14 with i3 7100u and mx150, i came w/ 4gb ram, but i upgraded it to 12 gb and now it can run  aaa games at decent settings and fps

Max budget is $1000 CAD, and plastic build quality is ok.

Any reasons against the Fx504?

Sorry - weight and battery life are negotiable. This will likely be staying at home anyways.   The main need will be a discrete graphics card and enough CPU oomph to justify the kind of games I prefer   - Terraria, Starbound and then old SNES emulations.

Lenovo Legion Y530 customize

or Acer Nitro 5 with undervolt+repaste

Both have low sRGB IPS

Can you explained what undervolt/repaste means? I’m not too familiar with that - though the Acer is at the edge of my budget

The Y530 is about $200 above my budget or I’d get that for sure. I’m a huge fan of the X series Lenovo from work

This is undervolt

Repaste is replacing thermal paste

Ah. I didn’t see the “instant web discount”, so it’s only $40 over budget for the 81FV00U2US sku
