Which server is better for Minecraft?

Go to solution Solved by Mikensan,

No brainer, the G7 is much faster and more power effecient. The G7 could be 1.6ghz and out perform the M2. The difference in the Core2duo/quad era and iX era is huge.

The M2 is basically a late-gen Core2quad, the G7 is an early i7.

Hi guys. I found two nice servers on eBay with good specs. The hp ProLiant dl380 g7, and the IBM x3850 m2. The IBM one is powerful and cheap, but uses ddr2. Which one should I get?

i might even make the server into an official LTT Minecraft game! ??

From what Google can tell me, the proliant is dual socket and the IBM is single socket.

Not to mention, DDR2 probably means LGA 771 which suuuuucks

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Oh then that does allow for some serious thread count, I believe it would accommodate quad 6 cores? Those would be super cheap so that would make for the most cost effective configuration (not to mention cheap DDR2)
