Recomendations for my R710

So I had my Dell R710 server delivered and I haven't decided on what os to play with. I have a 28TB unRAID server and I have not counted out creating another but would like to use\learn another os or two would like to do this on the cheap it has a PERC6i raid card and an IDRAC6 port a 4 port nic and 4 450GB sas drives other than freeNAS any advice on other options and some insight on it this is simply a learning thing then I will decide to make it permanent, I am partial to unRAID but who knows maybe theres something out there that will impress me

Put a hypervisor on it like ESXi or XenServer or KVM. If unRAID impressed you, then you'll love these. Then you can easily remotely install/manage all the operating systems you want....

Personally I swapped out the 600GB SAS drives in mine for 500GB Samsung Evo's which made a huge difference to power, noise and heat.
