The $59 Streaming PC

So I have an elgato which I want to use to reocrd my main PC so I wanted to get a PC in mind of being able to stream atleast 720p til I can upgrade it for 1080p in the future. I was after a LGA 1156 chipset board since you can upgrade them with a really cheap but good Xeon, Xeon X3440. Bout $25, 4 cores, 8 threads, that was be perfect for 1080p. My end result was to get that CPU and something like a GTX 1050. That was be perfect. So far for $59 (actually $58.50 something) I bought 3 things that were needed. First, the used HP Compaq Elite 8100 SFF. My version has an i5-750, 4 Gigs of DDR3 ram, and the motherboard and PSU. Nothing else. I had an old hard drive from my laptop with an activated version of windows 10 on it which I plan to install into the PC since it does not come with a HDD. I also bought more sata cables since I needed more so I guess you can minus $3 from the price. The GPU I bought for now is a AMD Radeon HD 6450. This isn't the best card but its really cheap and since I am not going to be doing gaming I think I should be fine. This PC does not have an GPU/IGPU which is also why I bought that coming in at $11!. The PC itself was $25! with a $19 shipping cost. Overall I think It should do fine for 720p Streaming. Note, I am going to be running the USB Elgato on that computer to capture footage off my main PC. I am not trying to stream and game on it. I might also use it as a movie PC since it comes with a CD Drive  I will keep updates in this forum post

Also I plan upgrading the ram to 8 gigs, then 16.

Wow, you found one, good job. But I think you should save a bit more and get a gt 1030

Ah kinda to late since the GPU already shipped and I was trying to go as cheap as possible til I get more work hours in February. Thats when Il prob get the Xeon and 1050

I also plan on selling the 6450 and i5-750 for $15 each when I get the Xeon and 1050. Just to make some money back

And yeah I did find one lol. People were doubting me last night and I found the exact one I wanted

Yep, thats the plan. I just dont know if a 230 watt would be enough to get a 1050 ti  I might have to upgrade the PSU in the PC to a 320 watt atleast if they have it for that model. I want to keep it in that case due to the small size.

Would it be 720p good enough? I would be encoding using the CPu since the gpu has close to no power.

yeah... but hey, my gtx 1050ti in one of my builds only draws power from a PCIE slot... i think it draws 75W max...

I’d say it should be good for 720, especially since it is just a streaming pc, not gaming too

A PCIE slot can draw a max of 75watts. If a card draws more you have to get a 6 pin from the PSU. So I would have to plan on it using 75watts just to be safe.

 

I would need to upgrade the PSU to atleast 400 watts. Just did a power calculator

I also want to take out the awful CPU Cooling system on the pc and put on my intel cooling from my i3-8100 if it would work ? 

I might just do a GT 1030 at a end. Thats already really good for just streaming and I dont want to overuse the PSU and screw my self.

Just got my PC today. Seems to be in good condition. It seems that it came with a HD 4550 so I will sell that for $5, $10 shipped.

Btw I could sell you a encoding system with a fx 6300 8 gigs of ram and a 450 watt psu for $90 and I’ll pay postage, I’ve used it for encoding myself my the gpu died so I stopped using it, it would be bettter than what your planning to do,  the Mobo would fit in that case. Pm me if you’re interested.
