Upgrading my CPU need help.

So right now my brother is rolling with the i5 3330k and asus sabertooth z77 he wants to upgrade to a i7 4770k would it work? I know that the socket should be the same but not too sure. The i5 3330k has a LGA 1155 socket but the i7 4770k has a LGA 1150 socket will his mobo work with it?

No, the 4770k would need a new motherboard. 1155 and 1150 are two different sockets, it will never work.

Overclocking on the haswell platform has a lot less to do with the motherboard. What is your budget?

You are better off by getting 3770K and giving it tender OC. Change to another chipset and CPU is useless for you. 3570K is still valid chip.
