Issues loading windows.

Hi, I'm having some problems with my desktop pc specs below- 

 

Intel i7 2600k

4gb kingston ram

Asus Maximus IV gene z 

Asus DCU II gtx 670

Antec 750w 80+ bronze psu

Intel 120gb 330 SSD (windows 7 64 bit installed) 

Seagate 2tb 7200rpm HDD

WD 500gb 7200rpm HDD

 

I attempted removing my 500gb WD hard drive today and whenever i did, my pc wouldn't boot into windows with the message "Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" however when I connect the WD drive, I am able to boot into windows without any issues. Currently the only things installed on the 500gb drive are games i;m not sure what would be causing the issues.

Check your BIOS and see if the primary drive is your OS.

Primary Boot device should be set to your SSD within the Bios.

It is when I unplug all of my other drives and just leave the SSD installed, it won't work either.

Yes because you have to SET your bios to use it, regardless of it being plugged in by itself.

It is set as the first option for boot in the bios with the same message appearing.

No... It will find it itself, after going through all available boot options (DVD/USB/LAN/HDD)

Leave the drive that has your OS on it installed, remove all other drives.

 

Load up Windows install from DVD/USB, and run startup repair. That should prompt a fix fairly quickly then will ask to reboot. Report back with results.

I did what you said and when i clicked finnish, the computer re-started and ended back at the install windows screen even with the SSD as first boot priority.

Take out the install disk and try the reboot again

Can you put the drives back in it the way it was before and boot from it? If so, can you go to disk management and post a screenshot of the layout of the disks?

Yes as long as the 500gb HDD is connected in conjunction with the ssd than it will boot into windows normally ( works with or without the 2tb hdds)
