All of these companies are good' date=' I wouldn't say I'm a fanboy (hate that word, so horrible lol) but I personally prefer NVIDIA and Intel, I used to hate ATI because no end blew up and had to be sent back and I've only had a single NVIDIA card die on me (an old 9600 GT which had a failed capacitor or two) but now ATI has been bought by AMD I would certainly be willing leave the past where it belongs and give them a try but it just in the older days that I was unfortunate enough to have a lot of ATI card's fail in the space of about 8 years compared to only a single NVIDIA card, I'm no expert but in my personal experiences (other peoples experiences may differ) that is a pretty decent reliability record. [/quote']

This might seem a bit insane but, I had an 8800 GT that died after about 8 months of use.

My brother had 3 8600 GTs die on him & he bought a 8400 GT that we put in my mom's computer that also died.

So basically every single 8000 series Nvidia card that we've ever bought died T_T, something to do with a soldering issue on the 8000 series.

The 8400 GT was the last card to die (about 3 months ago) & the funny thing is, after it died I replaced it with my much older ATi x600 card & it's still working ! lol

My 8800 GT didn't die like the rest of the cards, usually artifacts and crashes indicate the end of a GPUs life, not with this card, the 8800 GT died heroically while playing Crysis warhead, I smelled burning plastic, shut the computer off & opened the case, found smoke pouring out of my card T_T, Crysis litterally killed my graphics card !

In any case, I don't care about which company I'm buying my card from, as long as it's the best performer for the price, I'm happy.

I have very old computer in my other flat.It is at least 6 years old and there is nvidia nforce 6200 and it is still working lol :D.Nevermind that.I would buy Crossfire now because of the never settle deals.Think about it .. if you buy 2 amd 7900 series now you will get 6 games. If you sell them you will get money back for about 1 card.Don't you think is better 2 amd vs 1 nvidia :))

Tell him he's stupid.

While I have brand preferences, I purchase an item from the company who gives me the best value for the money spent.

Desert Storm PC | Corsair 600T | ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ | AMD FX-8350 | MSI 7950 TFIII | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 | Seasonic X650W I Samsung 840 series 500GB SSD

Mobile Devices I ASUS Zenbook UX31E I Nexus 7 (2013) I Nexus 5 32GB (red)

I'm having the same situation with a hardcore AMD-fanboi.

Not that I mind AMD, I usually buy what's suiting my needs but he is really annoyingly vocal about it 24/7.

So now that I have realised that there is close to no point talking sense into him and telling him that not all benchmarks are conspiracy theories, I have made it a hobby to break his balls so hard about it that he rages and amused the whole skype-conversation :D

Frost upon these cigarettes.... lipstick on the window pane...
