Alright so I've made multiple posts but they all lead to new problems and nobody seems to reply to them and help me further, so hopefully someone can be my saving grace, to start off this is an older computer that I got from a family friend and basically its original problem.was the hard drive because it wouldn't boot windows and we'll I bought a new hard drive online, and I put that all in well I had a USB recovery media tool and tried to install Windows on the new hard drive well it sometimes would boot sometimes it would just crash and bring me to automatic repair and it couldn't repair, sometimes it would bring me into an endless loop of restarting the computer and then somewhere it would.just work again, I've tried two different HDD, the last and current one in I know for sure 100% works and already has windows on it, I've tried to unplug and replug the Sata and power cable, I've tried using every ram stick at a time, I've tried using the computer without the GPU, I've even tried using no HDD at all, I literally don't know what to even do, I'm close to just giving up the computer tbh, somebody give me some kind of advice please! Thank you!

If the HDDs are known good, I would look at the motherboard as the factor causing your problem. What happens if you reset the CMOS and try to boot, just to the BIOS?

What are the system specs?

I have no idea what kind of GPU it is because I haven't had time to look into that but I know it's brand is XFX, I know the CPU is a AMD Phenom ii x6 1045t and the ram I know is 8gb in total with 4 sticks, also I have no idea what a CMOS beats me to even know how to reset it haha.

Thank you!

For starters, test the RAM sticks with MemTest86+. This will eliminate the RAM as an issue.

How old is older? Post specs and pics of the motherboard. You might have bad caps, or flaky power supply.

The CMOS stores and retains your BIOS settings. Resetting the CMOS essentially restores your BIOS to stock settings. There should be a button cell battery on your board, pop that out for 5 minutes or so and then put it back in.

I've already tried to test it with memtest but couldn't figure out how to put the file into the USB that has the bootable file, and I've tried each ram stick individually and that didn't do anything different, pics below.

Where exactly is it located?

It varies by motherboard, but it should look something like this regardless of what board you have:

MT86+ has it's own installer

2nd and 4th link

https://www.memtest.org/#downiso

alternately

https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

use 4.3.7 and a program called "rufus" to install to USB

Okay I reset it and nothing happened, just crashed, restarted by itself, went into window repairing and then it couldn't repair it I'll try and use that memtest but for now this PC is the weirdest I've dealt with.

Does your HDD use SATA or IDE?

It sounds like the drive might be corrupted. If you remove the HDD, can you boot into the BIOS and stay there?

SATA and Ive used multiple Hard Drives and this one I know 100% works is currently in there and I could always before stay in the Bios without it crashing, the crashing only happens when it tries to load windows.

What are the specs? Where did this HDD come from?

My guess would be you pulled it from another system and forgot to sysprep the drive, which would prevent Windows from working in the new system.

Well that's exactly what I did for the current drive but the other drive is brand new and did the same thing how would I sysprep it?

Windows + R

type in "sysprep" and hit Enter

Run the application

Generalize, enable Out of Box Experience, shut down when finished.

This will wipe all the drivers from Windows, to ensure no hardware/software conflicts when transferring a drive.

This wipes all data too right?

No, that just wipes the drivers.

Did you then type "memtest" (or whatever the name is of the program on the USB stick?) at the C prompt?

Uh no people told me to push enter to start the test, what exactly do I have to type sorry?

When you get to the C:> prompt

Type Dir

It will list the contents of the USB drive.

There *should* be something there like "memtest.exe"

So you would type that (sans the quotes) to start the program

Nothing works

You directly copied the .iso file onto the stick. You can't do that. Rufus burns the bootable image (aka, the .ISO) to the usb stick, effectively converting it to the proper individual files that will auto-run when the usb stick is selected to boot from when the PC starts up.

Like I already said I didn't exactly understand how to do that I told you they and you said just to download that and I just copied it in there and you didn't say anything otherwise so that's exactly what I did.
