So I bought r9 290 and I cannot stand the noise it makes. >=(

And I will have to deal with reference cooler until 23.1 when I get my water block if I am lucky.

So I was wondering if under clocking would help the heat/noise much?

I do not mind 20% performance drop, because I can deal with playing with less demanding settings/games for a while.

So should I just drop the core clock by 20% and then power limit(%) as much as possible or maybe reduce voltage too (I have xfx r9 290 with voltage unlocked, but no idea how I can reduce the voltage, because it is locked at least in msi afterburner).

ah then I suppose you are going to have to put up with the noise even downclocking it probably won't do much in terms of noise its a very poorly designed cooler

Just noticed that there is one, really embarrassing

E: Double embarrassing, the dual bios switch does not do anything in r9 290

I think if you underclock it and undervolt it, you should be able to pull the fan RPM down and just let it run at 90-95c. It should make a decent difference, hopefully its enough

I just cannot find way to undervolt my gpu even when it is a model that has unlocked voltage
