$1000 PC build

RamboPenguin
Go to solution Solved by RamboPenguin,

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. Unfortunately, after I mentioned to my brother that he can use mouse and keyboard on some xbox games, he completely abandoned the idea of building a PC haha.

My brother wants to build a PC, and has a budget of around $1000. The primary purpose is to play games. He needs a monitor and a windows operating system key too.

Is this budget enough to get a decent gaming machine?

Here is what I have so far, but it is a little over budget:

Thats a very capable gaming machine. My suggestion:

drop the ssd to 500gb.

up the 1070 to 2060, should be $50 more.

get a windows in the grey market for $20 (professional not home).

and for that build, a 60hz monitor would ruin it, get a 100hz+

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

He's thinking games like Ark Survival Evolved, Battlefield, and other fps games.

He also wants to use it for some minor art stuff, but nothing too heavy.

I think I'll probably throw in a cheap mouse and he'll just have to buy better peripherals in the future.

I just tried to squeeze out some more for your money. The 1070 ti is just a place holder. Tomorrow the 2060 will launch.

144 Hz monitor. Smaller ssd. And somehow I managed a black and red theme by accident :D

And a cheap windows key will do

Put an RX 580 8GB in there if you want to get it closer to your $1000 budget.

His budget is $1000 though so it depends how flexible that figure is. A 2060 isn't going to be $200 cheaper than a 1070 ti.

Because his initial build was $1168.62 I figured 75 $ probably won't kill him.

But you are right, to get closer to the 1000 $ mark a 580 would probably be the best choice. I suggest MSI so it still goes with the red and black ?

Or get a used 1070 ti if the price will drop significantly, but that is probably unlikely.
