Email program

I am looking for a stand-alone email program.  Currently using OE Classic Pro 2.9 and for the longest time (months and months) have had recurring problems with the program locking up and the only way to get out of the lock up is to CTRL-ALT-DEL and end program.  Just getting tired of the hang-ups so figured it was time to move on to something else.  Anyone have any recommendations.  Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Thunderbird while no longer run by Mozilla is a very good client and feels a lot like Outlook Express in my opinion.

Well, the others are generally pay for, like Outlook itself.
