Freesync questions

I have looked all over the place but can't find anywhere that answers my questions.

 

Even if my graphics card supports DSC in Display Port 1.4, the monitor also has to support it to use it, right?

And can DSC be used with Freesync? Because I know that G-sync doesn't support it.

 

Will Nvidias new update allow support for Freesync 2? And can Freesync 2 monitors use normal Freesync? If they can, how does that work

What new update from nvidia ?  Freesync is a AMD feature, and nvidia can't just steal it as it has patent on it.  freesync AMD and g-sync nvidia ,,,,,,, Their both great but g-sync costs 300+ dollars while freesync is,,, well free ,

NVIDIA has added support for the DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync protocol, which is the protocol the AMD uses for FreeSync. This will allow NVIDIA to support variable refresh rates on any monitor that supports Adaptive-Sync, which is all FreeSync monitors. In other words they are adding support for FreeSync.

But does anyone have the answers to my questions? My main question is whether Freesync can be used with display port 1.4.

The monitor I just bought has freesync and display port 1.4 and freesync is supported over it.

Oops. I ment to ask if Freesync can be used with DSC to get 4k/120hz/10-bit color.

Wow that is great news, no need for g-sync I guess......
