Screen goes blank frequently

Vulkan HeStan

I'm using a dell E207WFP monitor and dvi-d single link cable, with a ryzen 3 2200g integrated graphics, that has a dvi-d dual link socket. The monitor back light and button remain on, but the screen goes blank every now and then (about every 10 mins). I had the same problem with another computer that has a dvi-I single link socket. Both the monitor and cable are 10 years old, I'm just wondering if there's any way of distinguishing between a cable fault and a monitor fault.
