VR Ready Build - CPU, GPU, etc.

I am looking for a VR ready machine that will cost me around $1,000-$1,500 (looking more towards the lower price range), but I am not sure whether to go with the Intel Core i5-9600K or the Intel Core i7-8700 (non-k). I looked into AMD Ryzen, but I believe that Intel might be better suited for VR. I don't really care for overclocking, so that's why I am choosing between these two and not the 8700k. I also don't want to purchase a machine with the i5-9600k if I will have to upgrade again within the next year because it is already outdated, so I am not sure which one to go with. I will only be using the machine for VR, but I would like to be able to run the games at least on high settings. I am also looking at the GTX 1060 for the GPU, but might consider the GTX 1070 if the budget is possible. As far as memory, I am looking for 16GB of RAM, and for storage I want to use an SSD.

I have also been looking at pre-built machines through both iBuyPower and MAINGEAR because of the warranty they offer and the tech support as well. If possible to get a build-out through either one of those sites would be great, but from what I have built on their website, I am looking at $1,400-$1,600 but I don't know if maybe there are cheaper alternatives to what I have customized.

I agree, I'd even go as far as to say try and scrounge up for a 1070Ti or the new 2060, VR will only get more demanding as new titles come out. You want 90 fps minimum so you don't want that bottleneck. The 2600x should be a very viable CPU option.
