The reason for this is I want to host some small games servers for example: Minecraft and being able to do some web browsering and network mapping on the windows side. One the other side I want to be able to use freenas for all my storage and my plex server and would like to be able to remote acces it all too.

i don't think freenas can run a minecraft server (even though it is linux, i am unsure if OpenJDK will run in freenas but i may be wrong), what you could do is run a windows virtual machine within freenas and run the minecraft server there, i also recommend hosting your shares in windows as samba can be a hassle for new users.

freenas can take care of the plex and can act as a remote gateway for all of it.

i don't use freenas but installing plex and getting a virtual machine is easy since it either is officially supported and can easily be installed without much hassle or is already in the OS and only requires some configuration. i don't know what you mean by "being able to do some web browsering" do you mean hosting a web server or browsing the web with freenas because the second isn't possible since many don't have the need to do that with freenas.

anyways...

this dude goes though on how to install a windows VM in freenas:

this dude explains on how to install plex:

and this dude explains on how to get a remote gateway working with freenas:

Hello I have a few questions to ask as I’m attempting to build my first home server. I want it to be muilti purpose if possible and run everything off the one tower. I want to be able to use it as a regular desktop with windows 10 and freenas with plex.

The reason for this is I want to host some small games servers for example: Minecraft and being able to do some web browsering and network mapping on the windows side. One the other side I want to be able to use freenas for all my storage and my plex server and would like to be able to remote acces it all too.

Ive seen some conflicting videos and still left up in the air about if its all positive but watched the nas and gaming computer in one video that was posted by you guys and was wondering if my request can be done with what parts I have.

Processor: Core i7-3370 -quad core

Motherboard: Asus P8 Z77-V Le Pluse

Power supply: 650w

Ram:16gb DDr3-1600/plan to expand to 32

Case: Unspesified

SSD: 2-120gb

Harddrive: 3tb Seagate/plan to expand.

Cooler: Liquid cooled.
