USB Passthrough Settings

I know that certain USB ports behave differently on a computer, but I'm not sure if there's a way to configure how each behave or find out which behave in what way. Some are passthroughs for higher amperage charging I believe, is there a way to find out which ports are this type or configure certain ports to behave in this way? Thanks for any feedback in advance.
