Hi,

Could someone tell me how Gigabytes included fan control software compares to Asus' Fan Xpert2 software? Is Asus's so superior that I should let it be a deciding factor? Obviously I don't have experience with either and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Let the Bios control the fan profiles, set an RPM for idle and an RPM for load on each fan. It'll take you one minute and you won't have the buggy software that mobo brands offer.

Asus' software is really only good for sub zero benching and flashing the bios. Other than that it's never recommended to install it because you'll be back here on the forums asking us if your board is borked because ai suite says "CPU Voltage 2V!!!" down in the corner while you're idling.

Or Molex and fan speed reducers :P

Welcome.

What particular boards are you looking at?

The Asus P8Z77-V PRO and the Gigabyte Z77GA-UP5 TH. I know there are other cheaper boards than the Gigabyte board but I care about esthetics as well as performance. Of all the boards I've looked at the UP5 TH is best looking board that fits in my budget.
