Bad HDD?

Just installed a new HDD  (Seagate SATA 6Gb/s 3.5-Inch 4TB Desktop HDD (ST4000DM000)) in to my system and now it will not boot with it in. With the HDD in the computer I hear a beeping sound. Was I shipped a bad Hard Drive?

Does your BIOS support a drive that big?  Might want to check that.  What about the beeping sound?  Is it something like two long beeps and 3 short beeps or something like that?  If it is a beep code, that code could tell you what is going on and why it doesn't want to work.  But I would check the BIOS first to ensure the machine supported a drive that big.

yes the Bios supports a drive that large. I have the same drive in computer and it works just fine. I don't see any abnormal post codes on the MotherBoard and the beeping happens  about every 2 seconds regardless if the sata cable is plugged into the drive
