Hi Folks,

I'm putting together an editing system. Eventually I want a GTX 1060 6gig GPU to complete it. But until I get the funds for such a card, or if it comes down in price, what low end basic, inexpensive, video card would you suggest to at least get the system up and running?

Thanks

Bart

A 1050ti should do you well, or a rx570, if you get those your next upgrade route would be 1070 and above.

A gt210 is around 33$ : https://www.evga.com/products/productlist.aspx?type=0&family=GeForce+200+Series+Family&chipset=GF+210

AMD HD 4670 is <20$ :

* https://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-Radeon-HD4670-512MB-PCI-Express-Dual-DVI-Port-Video-Graphics-Card-109-B66641/263175543043?hash=item3d467c1903:g:dTcAAOSw23NZpgWY:rk:6:pf:0
* https://www.ebay.com/itm/0M639J-DELL-ATI-Radeon-HD-4670-512MB-DDR3-Video-Graphic-Card-102B6660300-lot-S/172558459435?hash=item282d49222b:g:BTMAAOSwWLFZnwwx:rk:8:pf:0

if you want the absolute super cheapest but functional in 2D, look around for AMD HD 4550 or newer, you'll find tons of cards pulled from Dell and HP systems. Just be careful because most have DMS-59 connector (looks like DVI but has more pins) so you need a dms-59 to 2 x vga/dvi adapter cable.

Here's a listing for 7$ on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/VID104-Dell-ATI-Radeon-HD4550-512MB-DVI-DisplayPort-3Y14F-03Y14F-Video-Card/163031293986?hash=item25f56c2022:g:fQcAAOSwVXRb1Q5w:rk:22:pf:0

I'm not 100% sure but I think the one above is DVI + DisplayPort ,,, but just in case it's with DMS-59...

Here's the adapter cable for 2.5$  : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-2-DMS-59-to-Dual-DVI-Y-Video-Splitter-Adapter-Cable-For-Dell-HP-PC/183584410359?hash=item2abe7bcaf7:g:NkgAAOSwo1lcECM3:rk:3:pf:0

or another seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-DP-N-0H9361-DMS-59-Male-to-Dual-DVI-Female-Adapter-Splitter-Cable-1-2-Black/323613235318?hash=item4b58da1876:g:AQMAAOSwiYFXIoKs:rk:4:pf:0

So 7$ or more gets you a working card.
