if you're not running out of memory while gaming then no, more memory won't change a thing.

but what will change is getting another memory stick for Dual Channel, 2 identical memory sticks in Dual Channel will double the bandwidth that is fed to your CPU and will increase performance depending on the situation and it's always preferred.

also i think 16GB should be standard these days

It is totally worth it since you won't get bottlenecked by it in games. If you want to get into editing pictures or videos in the future you're already prepared for it and it's overall better if you get into livestreaming since you need to have a lot of different programs open at the same time.

I assume you mean from 8 gb to 16 gb?

If you're playing memory intensive games (simulators mostly), then most likely yes, you should see a difference. If you play esports games then probably 8GB is fine.

It's generally very difficult to give RAM capacity recommendations (especially with the amount of detail you provided) as you either have enough, in which case everything is fine, or you don't, which will mean signifficant dips in performance as the data is shifted from RAM (fast) to page file on your drive (slow)

8GB is a must for Windows 10, 16GB can improve multitasking capability, and you probably don't need more unless you're doing some complex 3D rendering or CAD work, or you want to configure a RAM disk.

Hi !

It is a new setup. But as my birthday arrives soon I am checking potential upgrades and a upgrade that seem cheap was a ram upgrade. Here is my setup if that can help you help me ;)   https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/6vYYBb

If you haven't bought the machine yet (my assumption) - perhaps (as you've gone with a 144 Hz monitor) you might want to spend the extra $80 to go up to a GTX 1060 6GB rather than an extra stick of RAM (however some modern games do appreciate the extra RAM over the graphics horsepower)
