Hi guys.

So I had my Ducky YOTS for about 2 months now and I really like it. although I feel that with a wrist rest, my typing and comfort can increase.

I was looking at gel rests, but encountered The_Beast's custom wood rests.

I ordered one and had no regrets. But my mom, being a doctor, disapproved of it and said it will cause Carpal tunnel, even though ever since I had a keyboard my wrists were always resting heavily on the wrist and on the desktop.

She said get a gel one, which I, being that I already ordered my wood rest and did not/can't return it, researched to find how to decrease risks of Carpal Tunnel syndrome.

Basically all they said were to get a proper typing position. this is what I researched: http://www.webmd.com/pain-management/carpal-tunnel/preventing-carpal-tunnel-syndrome#

To add on to that, google tells me that the majority of websites and researches disapprove of wrist rests in general.

So the proper typing hand posture is out of the way, and my thoughts are now, Are Gels better than Wood?

Thanks guys.

Gel for the comfort. The built in rest on my Logitech G710+ is fine for me though.

Yea...but I hadn't really bothered about carpal tunnel syndrome until my mom started to mention it.

Since my hand is already putting a lot of pressure on my wrist because of how tall the keyboard is I thought that making it more balanced and a even level with the keyboard will decrease carpal tunnel?

Typing without a wrist rest is more comfortable for me because the angle that it provides less stress to my hand joints. I hate typing on a laptop because of this.

I've never used wood rests before but typing with a gel rest covered in a cloth-like material has been very comfortable for me for the last few months. I never really bothered about it either but a few months back I had some really bad wrist pain from using a laptop keyboard where my wrists would be pressed against the edge of the laptop.

I work with computers and also play drums a lot so taking care of my wrists was important to me, so I bought a new keyboard and gel rest and feel much better. Whenever I remove the gel rest now my hands just float over the desk (at the level they'd be if the wrist rest was still there) instead of being pressed against the desk.

Alright, thank you for your input. I think that if even if I do feel some slight pain or aching I'll put a cushion or what ever on the wrist rest to combat that but I thinkil be fine
