It will definitely work! :)

  • Don't need case
  • 2 600-700W PSU cheaper
  • Only need 2GB USB drive
  • mATX motherboard is enough for 4 cards

Any MATX fits only dual cards

Fit 2 but can handle 4 with PCI-E x1.

But doesn't AMD/Nvidia state not too. Nvidia SLI requires above 4x pcie slot.

The cards will be getting to 70-80+ degrees in an open air environment so the last thing you want is to have 3 cards right next to each other in an enclosed case. Your rig would overheat and shutdown within minutes.

Example:

What are those pci cable things called?

That MOBO says Dual-Channel on Newegg, does that mean I have to get a D-C kit or can I still run it with one stick of 4gb?

It will run fine with one stick.

$425 seems excessive when you can buy 2 good 800W for less then half the price.

Seems weird: http://prntscr.com/2iyp2o

You aren't actually running in crossfire.  You can use x16 cards in x1 slots with extension cables and bandwidth doesn't matter for mining.

Add any 5 Gfx, and another PSU later on(for 3 or more GFX), and your golden. You could get a bronze PSU, but for mining, in my case, Every watt counts. And if you have some spare lumber/2x4's around, just cut them down and make a little stand to hold it all. No reason to blow $180 for an extra PCIE slot...

And really look into LTC-Rabbit or Bamt, if it is just going to mine all day. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=265224.0
