So I just bought a rtx 2070 and when I plugged in my displayport cable, it only displays at 1080p when my monitor is 1440p. it also won't send any audio to my monitor. I know the cable works because I had the exact same one plugged into my 1060, it was displaying at 1440p and sending audio. Any advice would be great

I would make sure that all of the proper drivers are installed if you haven't already.

In the case that that wasn't the issue.. Assuming you are running a windows machine, you can go to you display settings. Somewhere in there you should find a way to getting to your advanced display settings. Once you have located that, there should be a link for "Display adapter properties for Display 1" for example, upon clicking that it should open another small window. In that window it will describe all of the specifications of your graphics card. There should also be a "List all Modes" button, in there you should be able to change your resolution as well as hz rate.

As for the sound, if you check your sound settings, there should be an option to change to your monitor's audio over say a pair of headphones possibly plugged.
