Right, so i just recently noticed in my BIOS that my ram only runs at 2133 mhz when the speed is suppose advertised on the box is 2667 mhz. I tried to put on the XMP profile but, with no luck. After this i remeber that i havent really updated my BIOS in a million years so, i installed the latest BIOS update for my motherboard but again, with no luck. Whenever i put on the XMP profile and hit save and boot, it just black screens me and, i have to restart the PC to a screen that says the overclock failed.

Specs:

i5-5660 3.3 ghz

16 GB HyperX Fury

970 4GB OC

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Ah I see. Have you tried a manual overclock?

Don't think so, if this is turning up the volts and turning up the mhz manual then no, but have tried to bump up the mhz slowly witch, did not work either.

Your motherboard only supports 2400 Mhz max on seventh gen intel and 2133 on sixth.

4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 2400/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

i7 10700k @ 5.05 Ghz

MSI 1070TI titanium

Corsair H100i pro XT 240mm

MSI z490 tomahawk

16 Gb (2 x 8 GB) Patriot Viper Steel - 4000mhz - 16-16-16-34

Well Intel also only supports that but most of the time people can operate ram outside the spec.

I do not think you can manually ovc RAM beyond Mobo specs on a B or H motherboard.

If so, let me know cuz i have an H310.

Yeah every motherboard allows it (mileage may vary)

I have a B450 gaming pro carbon AC and highest MHz it supports for ram is 3466mhz. Whenever I try to run my ram above it, no boot or instant crashes. So yes every MoBo ‘allows’ it but only till a certain extent

MSI B450 Pro Gaming Pro Carbon AC | AMD Ryzen 2700x  | NZXT  Kraken X52  MSI GeForce RTX2070 Armour | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4*8) 3200MhZ | Samsung 970 evo M.2nvme 500GB Boot  / Samsung 860 evo 500GB SSD | Corsair RM550X (2018) | Fractal Design Meshify C white | Logitech G pro WirelessGigabyte Aurus AD27QD

Yeah 3466 is way out of spec for any board, I'd say that's a decent overclock. Also, what kit is it? If that's off a 3200 kit it's really good, and you're outside ram and Mobo spec.

2667/ 2800/ 2933/ 3000/ 3066/ 3200/ 3466 MHz (by A-XMP OC MODE)

thats what my Mobo supports. In the BIOS you have something called Memory Try It! And through that option running at 3466mhs. Ram is Corsair vengeance LPX 3200Mhz C16

I do like the motherboards with built in OC XMP profiles. I recently set my friend's 2400 kit to 2666 in his BIOS.
