Hi,

I have a Rog b360-f motherboard and a i5 8600.

I cannot get it to post with 4 sticks in.

It posted fine with 3.

The ram is RGB vengeance pro 2666hz.

My motherboard bios is up to date.

Can you help?

Thanks

Test each individual module, one by one because it's possible you have a faulty module. Now, if it boots fine with each stick alone then start booting with 2 sticks at a time. To simplify, you have stick 1 stick 2 stick 3 stick 4. Test sticks 1 through 4 BY THEMSELVES to see if it will boot with each stick. Now, once you've done that and your mobo boots up fine with each stick, start doing them in pairs. So, put in stick 1 and 2, 1 and 3, 1 and 4, then 2 and 3 and 2 and then 3 and 4. This will help you narrow down, whether or not, you have a faulty module.

I have got all of them to boot in pairs together.

It is strange as I have been swapping slots (I have got all the slots confirmed working) and sometimes I get varying results: eg sometimes it won't post with 3, sometimes 4.

It's possible that, either, your board is bad or the chipset can't handle them. I read somewhere that this chipset only runs 2600 but ram modules always run at half their rated speed I think? I could be wrong but it's something to look into.

Weird. The Asus website says it supports 2666

I'm unsure then. Unless you accidentally booted it up with RAM in the wrong slot at one point like booting up with ram in slots DIMMB1 and DIMMA2 Instead of DIMMA2 and DIMMB2. Do you see pins on your motherboard that say "Jbat1" or something? They're 2 little pins should be near the CMOS battery.

Found it, look in the lower right hand portion of your board. You should see the letters CLRTC labeled above 2 pins. It's quite confusing because it looks like a set of 4 pins, it's right next to one of the PWM headers. Tell me if you see it. http://prntscr.com/m09c6m

So I should try clearing the CMOS?

I can just load optimised defaults as I can boot worth 2 sticks

Yeah power down the PC, unplug it from the wall with the PSU switched off and then jump those 2 pins together for a minute or so. If it still won't boot up with the 4 sticks then you might have to change RAM settings. If I were you at this juncture, I'd return the board and replace it with a similarly priced Z370 board. You're not going to get much out of 4 sticks of ram on the B360 chipset since you can't oc with it, I know you have a locked CPU but it offers a better upgrade path down the line, especially with how the 9 series drives the 8 series down in price for sales.

I am sort of micro managing right now.

I wanted to know if I can fix it as I am away so I can deal and arrange returns if necessary, so I can return the day I get bqck

Anyway, when I get back, what ram settings should I change, of clearing the CMOS does not work?

Also,

I am trying to get my hands on an 8 pin EPS cable, so currently only have a 4 pin plugged in.

Do you think this makes a difference?

Are you talking about 8 pin CPU?

As for settings I'm not sure, unfortunately. You'd have to research it. I'm only really familiar with MSI boards.

That could, very well, be the problem though I'm not certain. I'd wait and see, though resetting the CMOS with the jump couldn't really hurt anything. Just remember to re-install the CMOS battery after jumping it but keep the battery in while jumping unless I'm mistaken.

Ok. I heard bumping the voltage might work.

Do you think so?

I wouldn't bump voltage if you only have a 4 pin as it is, I'm not sure how safe that is.
