Hi,

I need help to enable extended display from my laptop via an additional monitor. The first screenshot shows display information (1 and 2) followed by the full screenshot of the extended display, however I cannot see half of the screen found on the right-hand side.

I'm using an old monitor, 720p 60Hz and VGA. I use VGA-to-HDMI converter as my laptop only supports HDMI.

P.S. : I tried using the same damn monitor with the same VGA cable + VGA-to-HDMI converter to my PS4 console and it perfectly works.

Thanks in advance, happy holidays!

Windows + P is a quick way to change how your display acts. Have you tried to duplicate displays? Have you also tried changing the resolution to something lower?

Hi, thanks for your response. Tried duplicate displays using the same shortcut key. I also lowered the resolution for Display 2 which has the GTX 1050 gpu.

Are you sure it's the whole display and not just the particular windows/application giving you trouble? Have you tried having all apps/programs closed when connecting, then start up what you need when the display is connected?

I am quite sure that's it's the whole display. Please see this sample screenshot of my current display + the right hand side which is not displayed on my 2nd monitorimage.thumb.png.aa0c9e389f004b15a93bc82aef13a745.png

Have you tried using the monitor's adjustment and auto detect? Have you also checked Windows scaling?

My monitor only has one button, Samsung SyncMaster S19A10N. Windows scaling is left to 100% (recommended) as well as display 2's resolution 100% (recommended). The mouse pointer moves to the right as if it goes to the next display, full screenshots show display 2's screen but sadly my monitor is not turning on

:(

Intriguingly, my PS4 works like a charm with this monitor (and its VGA cable). My TV connected using HDMI to this laptop works, too meaning port works well.

The only other thing I can think to try is updating your video drivers or trying an older version of them.

Drivers are already up-to-date, somehow makes me think this monitor is not really compatible. I'm leaning towards using another VGA cable but I don't have an extra as of the moment. Although this VGA works with the PS4, I am still suspecting it could be the problem. Anyways, thanks for sticking with me. Peace
