Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my CPU and add more RAM to my PC (attached).

I was thinking to get an i7-8700K and add 8GB more of RAM.

Was wondering if this would all be fine or would I need to upgrade motherboard/PSU also?

I mostly play open world games/MMOs and I have been dropping frames as of late. I feel like maybe a better CPU and more RAM could help?

Thank you

8th-gen CPUs require 300-chipset boards. You'd need a Z370 to go to an 8700K, which probably rules that out. With your board, you're still able to use a 6700K or a 7700K (after a BIOS flash), and I'd recommend going that route unless you just want to get onto the newer platform.

8GB of RAM added on there will definitely help you. Also consider an SSD for your OS and a couple of the games you play most. It will change your world.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
