So I'm thinking of ordering the parts in for a completely new system with the exception of the hdd, ram and case and I have a few questions on the case that I hope you guys could help me out with.

The part list:

4 + 8gb ddr3

i3-8100

gtx 1050 ti

evga 100-br-0450 k1 (450 watts)

Gigabyte H310M A

Acer aspire tc-280 case

So my question is will I be able to continue using this case after I replace the motherboard or will I have to invest into a new case. I'm willing to do maybe a bit of drilling and such as visuals are not what I care about for the build. The case I'm using is for the acer aspire tc-280 and the ports seem built into the case, will this make any difference?

One final question, what would the best future CPU upgrades be over the i3 on that socket?

ddr3 doesn't work with the cpu and motherboard you have picked

an i7-8700 would be the best future cpu you can get for this motherboard

8086k

aorus pro z390

noctua nh-d15s chromax w black cover

evga 3070 ultra

samsung 128gb, adata swordfish 1tb, wd blue 1tb

seasonic 620w dogballs psu

Yes, and i also personally wouldnt suggest an H310 chipset motherboard. There was discussion on this in GamerNexus's video on the walmart PC. H310 has more limitations than just not being able to overclock.

For about 5$ more than the H310 gigabyte board (on newegg at least) you can get the B360 one:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813145064

Long term your max CPU is an i7 8700 on H310 or B360. Z370 if you want to overclock with an 8700k.

The case will be fine, its a regular microATX case so a regular microATX motherboard will fit without issue.

Thanks a lot! do you know of any similar motherboards to the ones you suggested that support ddr3 as it is a pretty budget system and the version doesn't really matter much to me?

What is your budget for the system? What components do you already have, if any?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Do not try this, just right off the bat do not buy parts and expect the following to work:

Coffee lake i3's are basically kaby lake lower end i5's. And pinout wise they work on older LGA 1151 motherboards. Including the one that runs DDR3.

HOWEVER, this is not 100% guaranteed across all H110 motherboards (that support DDR3).

So will the setup I mentioned still work as long as it's using ddr4 memory?
