Hey guys quick question I think one of my 2 primary dimm slots is bad haven't confirmed yet but if i'm reading the manual right it only accepts 2 4 or 8 gig sticks I have a 32 16 x2 set of ripjaw and before I read the manual I put them in it is registering 1 of the sticks at its correct size of 16gigs and I overclocked it so the questions I have is 1) how is it know and perform with a 16 gig stick when it does not show support and 2) If I read the manual correctly I can populate 2 sticks in either the black or grey dimm slots if true and a dimm slot is defective I was planning on that route, this a scratch built NAS so performance degradation from populating the secondary slots should not impact what needs to be done?

No way, DDR4 platforms all support 16GB sticks populating all the slots. They might not run high frequency, but they will work

Have you tried swapping the ram sticks and seeing if the issue occurs with the same slot?

Confirmed that 32gigs populated in secondary slots works and overclocked at 2933

I pulled the 2 8gig sticks out when I noticed the NAS reporting only 8gigs and tried reseating a few times thats when I swapped for the 2 16gig sticks and it only acknowledged one stick so preliminarily it appears the slot might snafued will try a couple more times and see when I get freed up can't keep the Plex media server down too long lest my name be Mudd? That would be Samuel Mudd for you historians
