hi,

so I'm planning to get i5 8400 and asus b360M E gaming board, i know that the board only support 2666mhz ram but i got a good price for ballistix DDR4 3000mhz 8x2 ram.

i check list of board compatible ram and i couldn't find the ram serial number, does this mean that the ram will not work? i dont want to buy and throw it away.

Yes. It will work.

The specification state it will run at maximum 2666 MHz, which is the official supported speed. Nevertheless you can still enable XMP to overclock the RAM to 3000 MHz.
