should I use dust filters for intake on my case? Has anyone done tests on temps with and without dust filters?

Good dust filters aren't going to impact airflow enough for it to be a poblem, and they will help prevent dust buildup on the inside of your case, which could have a larger impact on temps over time then the dust filters themselves.

Personally I'd go for intake filters over none at all over a few degrees in temps to alleviate further build up which would be more detrimental in the future. With good pressure optimized fans and a case without high restriction there shouldn't be any worries at all.

Dust filters are worth using since it saves having to clean the inside of the system as often and it doesn't have to worsen temps much.

I have a cheap case without dust filter on the intake front panel, and it sucks! I mean literally sucks in anything around, and I watched through the side panel window of my PC the dust are getting more and more every week, because I have a dusty environment..

 

The dust accumulation rate is not worth to deal to get slightly lower temps..

If the title is a Question - then the answer is YES.

 

I use thin black foam, I can double squish it in if I feel its not enough (and custom cut it from the rolls).  But 1 layer is perfect for me.

 

Air restriction?  Only if you don't clean up your filters often enough.  Results of filters?  Your not cleaning your PCB's, Radiators, Heat Syncs and getting dust out of every corner of the case, if you care.  Instead you clean your filters every 3 months (or more if you want) for a dust free environment.
