If the motherboard is very different then it might not work as drivers rejects it.

 

Also possible that the PC has stayed unused for so long that the HDDs corrupted themselves already

Hi, guys.

i came to China yesterday and found some old PCs in mum’s office. They were supposed to be discarded but we did not let them BECause I wanted them. Most of them had old Pentium and celeron processors, but I found a i3 4160 amoun the pcs. I wanted to test it out, but I will need an os (the HDD that came with the same pc had win 7 that required password). So I took the hdds from other PCs and put them in the pc with the i3, but all of them booted with either bsod or refuse to boot at all.

so I’m wondering: can I take out the boot drive from one computer and put it in another? Is the bsod happening cuz i’m Not supposed to do it?
