Zotac or MSI?

wh1sp3r

So I was scrolling through craigslist to look for a GPU for my PC build, and I finally decided on a 1060 6GB, So when I searched 1060 6GB into craigslist, I found two of them in my price range. One was a Zotac Mini 6GB for 180 (https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/sop/d/zotac-geforce-gtx-1060-mini/6770559816.html) and the other was an MSI 6GB Gaming for 160 (https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/sop/d/msi-geforce-gtx-1060-gaming-6g/6768344301.html). I am wondering which one to buy, because both are in my price range, but if I buy the MSI one I think I might have to upgrade my power supply. But on the other hand, since its dual-fan, I have more overclocking opportunities, and it's cheaper. But then the Zotac one is smaller, which would be useful if I decide on a small form factor PC. And I think I heard something about Zotac having better warranty than MSi?

Please help me decide, all opinions are welcome :)

your PSU doesn't have a 6-pin? They usually have at least 2 6+2 pin cables, if not then I seriously doubt the quality of your PSU and you should probably replace it anyways.

I tried to salvage a power supply from a fairly recent dead pc, but yeah lol, I should upgrade my power supply, what power supply do you suggest for a pc that needs 6-pin for gpu and has two hdds and one sdd?

CX550 (2017) is usually for sale around $35-40, same with the CXM series, sometimes they go for as little as $20. They're solid 80+ bronze units, I have a couple and they're great, even ran a 980 Ti off my 450W CXM so I was probably pushing it rather hard, but it's had no issues so far (had some fan grinding noises once but they went away, must have been how I mounted/oriented it).

Never buy a Mini or ITX card unless your case forces you to.

Generally, they run louder and hotter due to having less capability for heat dissipation.

Single fan + smaller heatsink = higher noise and temperatures
