dimension advice appriciated

Go to solution Solved by GoldenLag,

seems fine. i wouldnt get more than 2*8GB of 3200mhz memmory however. unless you really need those 32GB. and even then i wouldnt get faster memmory.

would get an 8700k and a Z370 board instead of an 9000 series i5. that or skimp on the CPU a bit and get a 2600 and start saving towards an GPU upgrade

Edit:

CPU cooler: Dark rock 4 or Dark Rock Pro7 or Cryorig H7

Hi guys,

replacing a cracked motherboard ( and other bits for compatibility) but not sure if intended components will fit.

case is a storm stryker: http://www.coolermaster.com/case/full-tower/stryker/

mother board: Gigabyte Z390 UD LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard  https://www.mwave.com.au/product/gigabyte-z390-ud-lga-1151-atx-motherboard-ac18817

ram : Team T-FORCE TUF Gaming Alliance 32GB (2x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz Memory  https://www.mwave.com.au/product/team-tforce-tuf-gaming-alliance-32gb-2x-16gb-ddr4-3600mhz-memory-ac14368

cpu: Intel Core i5 9600K Hexa Core LGA 1151 4.60GHz Unlocked CPU Processor  https://www.mwave.com.au/product/intel-core-i5-9600k-hexa-core-lga-1151-460ghz-unlocked-cpu-processor-ac18327

graphics: 2x amd radeon HD 7950 in crossfire/sli  https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-hd-7950.c307 (these were already in the system but will upgrade later when i have more funds)

not sure what cpu fan/cooler/heatsink to get that will fit either.

any advice very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ted

deadset legend mate. thanks for the advice. quick follow up though, ive been seeing benchmarks for the i5 9600k looking comparable to the i7 8700k https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i5-9600K-vs-Intel-i7-8700K/3337vs3098

the price difference between motherboards seems negligible, but the i5 9600k is about $420 AUD and the i7 8700k is around  $680 AUD.

am i misinterpreting the benchmarks?

Cheers mate

if the price difference is that high then dont bother. id still highly suggest getting something like the r5 2600 with a B450 motherboard and put the extra cash toward 3000 mhz Ram and a new GPU.

no you arent.

but you can probably get an 8600k and a Z370 board for cheaper that is essentially the same CPU as the 9600k. (they are actually the same

fair enough.

Thanks again for the advice.

Cheers mate.
