Looking for laptop recommendations

Go to solution Solved by genexis_x,

Lenovo Thinkpad P52 customize

AWm15 with 90Wh battery (no HDD) - might have CPU thermal issue

HP Omen 15-dc0020ca*/dc0025ca*/dc0030ca - no GSYNC, 70Wh battery

Gigabyte Aero 15w - poor thermals

*low sRGB IPS

You can always install W10 Pro by yourself. Also, upgrade RAM/storage by yourself if possible, usually cheaper

I am going to be going to college from computer programming and I need a laptop with the following requirements:

Intel I7 or AMD A10 processor or better with chipset that must support virtualization

16 GB of RAM

1 TB hard drive

Ethernet Network Card

Wireless Network Card

One USB 3.0 port (two preferred)

Windows 10 Professional Edition

I would prefer something on the lighter side. My budget would be $2500CAD. Any recommendations would help a lot.

Screen size? Do you need a dGPU? Do you need an SSD?

Screen size doesn't matter to me and those were the only things that are required. But it would be nice if it was capable of doing a little bit of gaming on the side as well.

This razer blade is good for portability, but you might not want a vacuum cleaner in your class and it doesn't have that 1tb hdd and needs a dongle for ethernet, so maybe this can work

you can get a win 10 pro key from many sites for $20 so that shouldn't be much of a problem

Ok, thank you. What would I need to look out for if I did end up needing an ethernet dongle? Or are there any of those that you would recommend?

For weight the lighter the better but anything under 6 lbs. The more battery life the better as I will be on the move a lot. display quality doesn't matter. Usage would be whatever we do in our computer programming course as well as some mild gaming on the side.

Hands down GS65 from MSI. If you are willing to shell out 2500 for a laptop you should be getting, in addition to all mentioned requirements great gaming performance and a 144 hz screen. GS65 delivers. (Except for battery life).

I dont think you should prioritize battery life but if you are, you have to sacrifice some gaming capabilities.
